Yeon Sang-ho’s TRAIN TO BUSAN sequel PENINSULA has secured distribution all around the world with Well Go USA distributing here in North America. And today we have your first look via two new stills. Check them out below!
Director Yeon Sang-ho says:
It takes place four years after Train To Busan, in the same universe, but it doesn’t continue the story and has different characters. Government authority has been decimated after the zombie outbreak in Korea, and there is nothing left except the geographical traits of the location – which is why the film is called Peninsula.
It tells the tale of
A former soldier who manages to escape from the Korean peninsula – a zombie-infested wasteland turned into a ghetto by other nations trying to stop the spread of the virus. Sent back with a crew on a mission to retrieve something, he goes in through the port of Incheon to reach Seoul and comes under attack, discovering there are more non-infected survivors left on the peninsula.
The original film sports a 93% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: "Train to Busan delivers a thrillingly unique — and purely entertaining — take on the zombie genre, with fully realized characters and plenty of social commentary to underscore the bursts of skillfully staged action." The follow-up stars Gang Dong-won, Lee Jung-hyun, Lee Ye Won, Kwon Hae-hyo, Kim Min-jae, and Koo Kyo-hwan. No release date has been confirmed but the movie could be ready for summer 2020.
