WWE Studios has revealed the first look at the titular baddie from their upcoming LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS, set to hit VOD on August 28 and arrive on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 30, making the reveal at their Comic-Con panel yesterday.
Below you'll find the first piece of art to reveal what the Leprechaun looks like in director Zach Lipovsky's upcoming LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS, and it's a strange reveal indeed. Not sure why WWE Studios chose to go with this artwork instead of a still featuring WWE superstar Hornswoggle as the character, but we'll take what we can get. To be honest, I'm not crazy about the design as it reminds me of the monster from the abysmal 2011 film CREATURE. Still, I'm hoping the film itself ends up being a fun effort as it's been said that this reboot is a considerably more serious affair than the original Warwick Davis-starring series of movies. We'll see.
Stephanie Bennett (GRAVE ENCOUNTERS 2), Andrew Dunbar, Melissa Roxburgh and Brendan Fletcher (FREDDY VS. JASON) star. The film was written by Harris Wilkinson and directed by Zach Lipovsky.
“Backpacking through the lush Irish countryside, two unsuspecting young couples discover a town’s chilling secret. Ben (Dunbar), Sophie (Bennet), David (Fletcher) and Jeni (Roxburgh) quickly discover the idyllic land is not what it appears to be when the town’s residents offer the hikers an old cabin at the edge of the woods. Soon, the friends will find that one of Ireland’s most famous legends is a terrifying reality.”
