As if flowing from a freshly bitten neck, the first image of Jared Leto‘s MORBIUS has leaked online. I don’t know exactly how accurate that image is, but I will say it looks pretty bad ass. Honestly, I wasn’t a big fan of what we saw of Leto as Joker in SUICIDE SQUAD, so I am hopeful that a trip over to the Marvel universe will perhaps breed better results. Here’s the Twitter link to the Living Vampire’s pic:
Morbius the Living Vampire was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane. The Marvel villain made his first appearance in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man” #101 (circa 1971). According to the Marvel Database, Morbius is afflicted with a “debilitating blood disease and developed an experimental treatment involving vampire bats and electroshocks. Its side effects turned him into a pseudo-vampire who needed to consume blood in order to survive, and gained typical vampire characteristics such as an aversion to sunlight, and the powers of flight, enhanced strength, speed, and healing (a healing factor). His overall appearance changed as well: he gained fangs, his nose flattened to appear more bat-like, and his skin became extremely pale. Additionally, the victims of his bite would turn into living vampires themselves.”
In addition to Jordan Catalano (no relation), MORBIUS also stars Jared Harris, Matt Smith, Ardria Arjona, and Tyrese Gibson. It is being directed by Daniel Espinosa and is looking to release some time in 2020.
