First look at Geena Davis and Alfonso Herrera in The Exorcist TV series

This morning, Fox officially ordered The Exorcist to series. This is what we get for giving Bates Motel such good ratings.

The company works fast, as they've already released the first official image from the series pilot. It's an image that will be very familiar to fans of THE EXORCIST: the attic stairs. In the image, you can see Geena Davis and Alfonso Herrera (Sense8) peering nervously into the attic, where presumably she's been hearing mysterious noises. Check it out below!

Davis plays Angela Rance, a "naturally beautiful, regal and proud but weighed down by stress. [She] does everything she can to stay positive and keep her faith even though her family is currently struggling. She can’t help but think, however, if perhaps her nightmares about a demon are a sign of what’s wrong." Herrera plays Father Tomas, "the warm, selfless and compassionate leader of a small but hearty little church."

Scripted by Jeremy Slater (THE LAZARUS EFFECT), The Exorcist has the following official logline:

More than four decades after the Academy Award-nominated film solidified itself as the greatest horror movie ever made, The Exorcist returns in series format as a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession.

Brianne Howey stars in the series as a girl who may be possessed, with Hannah Kasulka as her wallflower sister, and Ben Daniels and Kurt Egyiawan as priests.

There is still no official premiere date on the series yet, but presumably it will be announced shortly.
