Sweetie-pie Ellen Page won over many hearts with her turn as the pregnant, silly-hip dialogue spilling scene-kid in Diablo Cody's mini-classic JUNO. Fair enough. Not my cup of blood, but I get it. Not really, but whatever.
In any event, Ellen Page will, to me, always be the girl with the red sweater from David Slade's debut flick HARD CANDY. You know, the red sweater-ed girl who spends, like, an hour, cutting off Nite Owl 2's dick n' balls? Yeah, that girl.
Ellen Page hasn't spent much time within our beloved genre since then. Sure some thought she would make a good lead for THE LAST OF US adaptation (which I still say, she is, and always was, way too old for the part) but that flick fell apart, and since Ellen has all but stayed away from the horror section.
Until recently that is.
Ellen Page has taken the lead in David Freyne’s new zombie film THE THIRD WAVE (which isn't the best title ever, let's be honest) and I'm looking forward to her return to genre – even if it means sitting through yet another zombie flick. I love a good zombie movie like the next dude, but maybe the genre needs to take a dirt nap for a little while.
Anyhow, you can check out the flick's synopsis right here.
… in the aftermath of a devastating virus which transformed the infected into zombie-like monsters. Mankind is struggling to rebuild societies deeply divided between the uninfected and those who did succumb to the virus and are still haunted by their violent actions. In the backdrop, the rise of a terrorist movement threatens to plunge the world into chaos again.
