First image pops up for another J-Horror remake The Caller

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

We haven’t had news about another J-Horror remake in a while so I guess this is alright. I remember when we had back to back stories on one project after another until finally it all stopped. Maybe Hollywood was paving the road for 3D horror maybe we they finally heard our cries and took it easy on snatching whatever became a hit over in the far east.

Well here we are returning once more to J-Horror remakes and this latest entry is entitled THE CALLER from internationall acclaimed DOT THE I. There’s an interesting story behind this flick, Brittany Murphy was once scheduled to take the lead in the flick before her untimely passing. After the actress passed away the project (and several others) were put on hold until the filmmakers knew what to do. It wasn’t a hard decision. The lead was given to another gal and then it was all  full speed ahead!

Matthew Parkhill is acting as Director of THE CALLER with Sergio Casti as the scribe. TRUE BLOOD star Stephen Moyer and Luis Guzman are also attached to star alongside the new gal. Rachelle Lefevre takes on the roll that Murphy was set to star in and while their acting styles are worlds apart, it’s going to be interesting to see how this fairs out on screen.

Below we present you a preview of the first still of the flick, courtesy of Dread Central. Click to be re-directed to the larger view. If you’re still a bit confused on what all this CALLER nonsense is all about, there’s a synopsis here to make things a bit easier for ya. Enjoy.

“When troubled divorcee Mary Kee begins to receive mysterious phone calls from an unknown caller, she quickly begins to feel haunted in her own home. When she discovers that the person is calling from the past, Mary realizes that she will have to kill her in order to survive, but how do you kill someone living in the past, and what will happen if she fails? From the director of the internationally acclaimed ‘dot the i’, ‘The Caller’ is a chilling supernatural thriller in the tradition of ‘The Grudge’ and ‘The Ring’.”
