Felicity Jones entered full-on superstar mode when she gave the Empire a whuppin’ in ROGUE ONE, and now she’s ready to do the same to another powerful system – the male-dominated United States government. She will do so by playing Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the movie ON THE BASIS OF SEX which just dropped its first image that shows Jones looking very Ginsburg-y indeed.
Jones will star in the RGB origin story that centers on when she was a young lawyer and brought a female discrimination case to the Supreme Court, an institution she would later join in 1993. Check out the image – and that hair – below:
It was also announced that on top of Jones, and Armie Hammer as her husband and legal partner, Martin, the cast will be fleshed out by Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates, Sam Waterston, Jack Reynor and Stephen Root. The movie was written by Ginsburg’s nephew, Daniel Stiepleman, and is being directed by Mimi Leder who had this to say about the project:
Our story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg resonates with me on so many levels – from the inspiring partnership she found in her marriage, to overcoming adversity as a woman and discovering the strength of her own voice, to her empathetic commitment to those in need of a voice no matter their gender, race, status or religious beliefs. In these tumultuous times, stories like this speak to the heart of humanity and remind us what it means to lead with love and compassion as the way forward.
ON THE BASIS OF SEX will arrive in 2018 to celebrate Ginsburg's 25th year on the Supreme Court
