For the last time Steven, I won’t say 'there’s a snake in my boot!'
While there might not be a lot to look at in the first image from Steven Spielberg's still-untitled Cold War drama, collaboration between the director and Tom Hanks is always worth looking into. The upcoming film tells the true story of James Donovan, a lawyer working for the CIA to secretly negotiate the release of a U.S. pilot shot down over Soviet airspace in 1960. That lawyer of course will be played by Hanks who can be seen enduring the winter weather with his director in the image below:
Speaking with EW, Spielberg shared what brought him to this project:
"This is one of the more astonishing stories about the Cold War I’d ever heard, James Donovan is a hero to me, and Tom made him so completely accessible". He added: "I’ve always wanted to make a spy movie, and this is that and then some."
The movies appeal doesn’t just come from its cast and crew mind you, it also comes from a screenplay by Joel and Ethan Coen. This is definitely one to keep an eye on in the New Year; stick around for the official title and synopsis which should hopefully be coming soon. The Cold War thriller also stars Amy Ryan, Mark Rylance, and Alan Alda. It’s set to open in theaters October 16, 2015.
