Although I quite like Chris Hemsworth's Thor, I've unfortunately found both Thor-centric Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks to be lacking. They're certainly not bad by any stretch, but they just haven't lived up to the promise of grand outer-space mystical adventure that the world of Asgard is known for. The upcoming THOR: RAGNAROK, directed by Taika Waititi, is looking quite promising and I feel hopeful that it will finally give us the THOR adventure which we've all been waiting for. After spending the past year piecing together exactly what THOR: RAGNAROK will be about, Marvel has finally released the first official synopsis for the film to set the record straight.
In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!
Not really any big surprises there, but for the first time in a while, I'm finding myself quite excited to see Thor's latest adventure in theaters. A new image has also been revealed, but unfortunately, it's not nearly as interesting. We see Taika Waititi giving some direction to Chris Hemsworth, but I do quite like Thor's stripped down and muted costume. Click to embiggen.
THOR: RAGNAROK will hit theaters on November 3, 2017.
