In 1984 the seminal horror/comedy GHOSTBUSTERS burst onto the scene in all its ectoplasmic glory. Audiences were thrilled at the rousing paranormal adventure that introduced the world to Slimer, Gozer, and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Five years later a less successful sequel followed that continued the exploits for Peter Venkman, Ray Stanz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore as they battled Vigo the Carpathian. After that the franchise experienced a twenty-seven year hiatus until an all-female reboot led by Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon hit theaters in 2016. However, that film failed to produce at the box office and many thought that was it for the storied franchise.
That was until director Jason Reitman (son of Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two films) said hold my P.K.E. meter.
Earlier this year, Reitman dropped a brief teaser trailer that featured Ecto-1 in an old barn as the familiar eerie GHOSTBUSTERS theme played in the background. Filming of the project began in earnest this past July and wrapped production in October. Well now we have more than just a teaser as Sony Pictures just dropped a full trailer for GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE!
GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, McKenna Grace, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, Finn Wolfhard, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts and spooks its way into theaters July 10, 2020.
