I am very interested in checking out James Franco's CHILD OF GOD. The teaser gave us a glimpse at the Cormac McCarthy adaptation, and now a full trailer has been released. The way the trailer was cut makes the film seem like it's a horror movie, which isn't that big of stretch considering the gruesome and twisted actions committed by Scott Haze's Lester Ballard in the McCarthy novel. Speaking of Haze, this could be a breakout role for the actor, who is more known for his work in theater. Although it looks like the budget wasn't very big for CHILD OF GOD, the trailer is pretty damn creepy, and I'm really digging what I've seen so far for James Franco's film.
Bang…
Synopsis:
A dispossessed, violent man who's life is a disastrous attempt to exist outside the social order. Successively deprived of parents and homes and with few other ties, Ballard descends literally and figuratively to the level of a cave dweller as he falls deeper into crime and degradation.
James Franco also has a small part in CHILD OF GOD, and it also stars Jim Parrack (BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, the upcoming FURY with Brad Pitt) and the always fantastic Tim Blake Nelson. CHILD OF GOD still doesn't have a distributor, so there isn't a release date at this time.
