First concept art for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina cast a spell online

Back in October of 2014, an exciting new comic book seires called The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina hit the stands. Spinning out of the pages of Afterlife With Archie, Sabrina offered readers a sinister spin on a fan-favorite character belonging to the Archie Comics universe. Set in the 1960s, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina features a story in which the teenage witch lives with her aunts, Hilda, and Zelda, along with her cousin Ambrose, in the town of Greendale. The series, which is still in publication today, explores Sabrina's dark heritage, and ultimately reveals that she's the teenage bride of Cthulhu. It's a wonderful twist on the character's lore, and a move that, since being announced to the public, has only served to heighten Sabrina's popularity among fans. After all, who doesn't enjoy a little Lovecraft in their horror diet, eh?

Now, as pre-production on Netflix's CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA conjures up a bit of progress, showrunner and Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has unveiled the first piece of concept art for the upcoming RIVERDALE spinoff!

As you can see from the above artwork, the show looks as if it will emulate the somber tone and eerie atmosphere found within the show's source material. Provided that the show adhears closely to the books upon which it is based, viewers can expect something quite different from that of RIVERDALE's noir-like presentation. I'm talking full-on horror-related goodness here, folks. I hope you're ready for some Lovecraftian shadow monsters that slither about in all of the places you can't quite see; or werewolves that hunger for the beating hearts of their closest friends. All of that and more will be on the table if THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA turns out the way I imagine it will. Think AMERICAN HORROR STORY meets IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS meets SWEET VALLEY HIGH. If that's not a recipe for a terrifyingly good series I don't know what is.
