It is a sad fact that Robin Williams‘ last few years worth of work has been relegated to On Demand or straight to cable. Films like THE ANGRIEST MAN IN BROOKLYN and WORLD’S GREATEST DAD did not get the exposure the acclaimed Oscar winner had received in years past. Most of his big screen work was in supporting roles like NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM. With four films completed before his death, Williams will be seen again but how widely is unknown.
The first of the four films to see release will be the holiday comedy MERRY FRIGGIN CHRISTMAS which sees Robin Williams sharing the screen with Joel McHale, Candace Bergen, and Lauren Graham.
The film follows Boyd Mitchler (McHale) and his wife Luann (Graham) as they spend a dreaded Christmas with Boyd’s father Mitch (Williams) and his family of misfits. Upon realizing that he has left all of his son’s gifts at home, Boyd hits the road with his father and younger brother in an attempt to make the eight-hour round trip before sunrise.
This first clip comes courtesy of Entertainment Tonight and shows a crass Williams coming up with a more adult replacement for milk and cookies for Santa. It is a funny moment and one that shows the decline of the roles Williams had in his final years, a true shame for such a great performer.
MERRY FRIGGIN CHRISTMAS will premiere in limited release and on demand starting November 7th.
