Villains are incredibly interesting characters, regardless of the type of media they originate from. It's one of the reasons why actors love playing bad guy. One actor who knows a thing or two about playing a villain is Christopher Lee, who narrates the upcoming documentary NECESSARY EVIL: SUPER-VILLAINS OF DC COMICS. The documentary covers why fans love these evil characters, as well as how these villains have impacted the stories from the comics and how they mirror our own fears.
NECESSARY EVIL: SUPER-VILLAINS OF DC COMICS features interviews with some of the creators of the DC villains, and people that have been involved with bringing several of the characters to the big screen such as Guillermo Del Toro, Zack Snyder and Richard Donner. A preview clip has been released called "Dark Reflections," and it focuses on how many of the DC villains are essentially evil versions of the heroes that are suppose to be stopping them.
I've always felt DC has had the better villains (and not just because of the Joker), and NECESSARY EVIL: SUPER-VILLAINS OF DC COMICS looks like a fascinating and entertaining documentary on their epic evil doers. If you like the clip you won't have to wait long to watch the full documentary: it hits Blu-Ray and DVD on October 25th, and you can order it from Amazon right here.
