For fans of zombies, particularly nazi zombies, and over-the-top horror gore, then your appetite is about to be fulfilled with DEAD SNOW: RED VS. DEAD, the sequel to DEAD SNOW, which found a group of medical students under attack by nazi zombies on a ski vacation. The first film was a fun little cheesy gorefest and the sequel looks to have some of the same flavor, but with a CRANK-like premise, as one of the survivors has had a "surgical enhancement" that makes him a bit more formidable against his undead enemies.
Take a look:
Here's the synopsis:
Dead Snow: Red Vs. Dead follows the sole survivor of a Nazi zombie attack who battles an even larger army of Zombies with the help of The Zombie Squad, a professional gang of zombie killers from the U.S.
The sequel is directed by original helmer Tommy Wirkola, who also directed this year's sleeper hit HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS, which I thought was a perfectly fun time with no strings attached. A great, cheesy, gore-filled one night stand, if you will. Wirkola seems to have a good knack for the bloody goods, which are always a welcome addition when done well. I doubt that DEAD SNOW: RED VS. DEAD will be a huge player in the market this year, but perhaps its debut at Sundance this year will drudge up some heat.
DEAD SNOW: RED VS. DEAD premieres at Sundance next month with a release date yet to be announced, but expect it sometime in 2014.
