The first poster for BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN) has been spotted at this year's CineEurope trade show, which runs from June 17-20 in Barcelona. The text-only promo was seen displayed alongside other standees for the WB's other upcoming comic book-related film projects, such as Todd Phillips' JOKER and director Patty Jenkins' WONDER WOMAN 1984.
While the art for JOKER and WONDER WOMAN 1984 have made the film's central characters the focus of each promo, it would appear as if the WB are still keeping the final look of BIRDS OF PREY under wraps. That being said, there's some clever text-based stuff going on with the new BOP poster, if you look hard enough. For real, give a peep and tell me what you see.
Did you catch one of Huntress' arrows between the "I" and "R" in "Birds?" How about the dagger in the letter "S?" Or the baseball bat cleverly hidden inside the "O" in the word "of?" Then there's the mallet and brass knuckles in the word "Prey?" Granted, it's not much, but I'll take some crafty Highlights-style hidden pictures business anywhere I can get it.
When BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN) smashes into theaters, DC fans will witness Harley Quinn, Huntress and Black Canary battling crime kingpin Black Mask in Gotham City. Margot Robbie will reprise her role as Daddy's Little Monster for the upcoming adventure, while Ewan McGregor is set to play the vile villain, Black Mask. Meanwhile, the rest of the Birds will be fleshed out by Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain.
Directed by Cathy Yan, BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN) is expected to burst into theaters on February 7, 2020.
