Director Jason Reitman's upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS legacy sequel, GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE with Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Paul Rudd will (hopefully) be hitting theaters this July. And today Wolfhard let us all know the new movie is a really, really faithful approach to the series.
He says:
Older Ghostbusters fans will find it’s a really, really faithful approach to the series. While young people, if not everyone, will find that, first and foremost, Ghostbusters is about family and the relationships that these people have made. It’s also really funny, so I’m really excited for people to see it. When I was really young, my parents were really big fans of the original movies, so I grew up watching them. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis – all of those were big, big people in our house. So getting to be a part of that legacy now is very flattering.
GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE begins
After being evicted from their home, two children and their single mother move to a farm in Summerville, Oklahoma, inherited from their late grandfather. When the town experiences a series of unexplained earthquakes, the children discover their family's link to the original Ghostbusters, who have become something of a myth as many have long-since forgotten the events of the "Manhattan Crossrip of 1984", and the secret legacy that their grandfather left behind.
It stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Paul Rudd. GHOSTBUSTERS stars returning include Bill Murray as Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd as Raymond Stantz, Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett, Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz, and Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore.
Directed by Jason Reitman from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Gil Kenan (MONSTER HOUSE) based on the original film written by Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ivan Reitman, GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE is produced by Ivan Reitman. It hits a theater near you on July 10, 2020.
