Whatever happened to Saturday night? It used to be a fun cult phenomenon, and now it's being remade by Fox as an airbrushed trifle. Oh wait, no. That's THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. The classic musical, which had its 40th anniversary last year, is being remade by Fox as a television event.
We already know that we're facing Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Victoria Justice as Janet, Ryan McCartan as Brad, Reeve Carney as Riff Raff, and Staz Nair as Rocky, but now news has dropped as to who will be filling the role of Hot Patootie-ing, teddy-hating Eddie: American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert. Yeah.
The Lamb, as somebody probably calls him, does have vocal chops. You don't tour with Queen if you can't sing. But he's not exactly as rock 'n roll as Meat Loaf, to say the least. There's still room for somebody absolutely stunning to be cast as Columbia or Magenta, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
As if you didn't know, in ROCKY HORROR, Brad and Janet stumble into:
The creepy castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter and set into motion an evening of floor shows, Transylvanian dance routines, and no lack of touch-a touch-a touching.
THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW will be directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega. It crash lands on Fox this Fall.
