Director Kathryn Bigelow’s ZERO DARK THIRTY has been snagging critic awards and Golden Globe nominations of late, helping to prime the film for its release in January. Taking the New York Film Critics Circle top prize, as well as a best director nod to Bigelow. It’s taken a few other awards, with lots of credit going to screenwriter Mark Boal and Bigelow, the same team behind THE HURT LOCKER and a massive haul of kudos going to Jessica Chastain’s performance as a CIA operative who was instrumental in tracking down Bin Laden. Now, we have a final trailer for the film, which glides beautifully under the Scala & Kolacny Bros. cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters.”
The film is garnering some other attention as well, mostly due to the depiction of torture, which may or may not have led to the location of Bin Laden. Everyone seems to have some feelings on it one way or another, but the uber political are having a field day with it. Personally, and from military experience, I know where the truth is, and it won’t affect my viewing experience in the least. But, everyone has their line.
