Final Destination franchise to get a reboot courtesy of Saw writers

Over the course of five films, the FINAL DESTINATION franchise has seen Death use highly elaborate (and bloody) methods to bring an end to the majority of its characters, but it's been nearly eight years since the last film in the series. According to THR, FINAL DESTINATION is set to make a comeback as New Line Cinema is looking to restart the horror franchise.

In order to bring Death back to the big-screen, New Line have hired two writers who are more than experienced when it comes to creative kills: SAW franchise writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who penned SAW IV, SAW V, SAW VI, and SAW 3D. Plot details for the new film have not been revealed, but it's being described as a re-imagining of the FINAL DESTINATION franchise. If you're not familiar with the basic idea behind the series, it typically follows a character who has a premonition of a deadly event and is able to use this knowledge to avoid their own demise as well as save the lives of several others. However, Death won't let them off so easy and the unseen force seeks to claim everyone who avoided their fate. The films are quite a lot of fun in my opinion, and I still think of the opening of FINAL DESTINATION 2 whenever I pass a logging truck on the highway. In addition to the SAW movies, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan also penned the FEAST trilogy, PIRANHA 3DD, THE COLLECTOR, THE COLLECTION, as well as having had a hand in the script for Guillermo del Toro's upcoming SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK.

Are you down for more FINAL DESTINATION or should Death reclaim the franchise once more?
