Director Nicolas Pesce earned critical acclaim with his feature debut THE EYES OF MY MOTHER last year (our own Eric Walkuski gave it a 9/10 review), and he has wasted no time getting his follow-up film off the ground. In fact, filming has already wrapped Pesce's second movie, a psychological thriller titled PIERCING.
Based on a 1994 novel by Ryu Murakami, PIERCING stars Mia Wasikowska and Christopher Abbott in the story of
a man who kisses his wife and baby goodbye, seemingly headed away on business, with a plan to check into a hotel, call an escort service and kill an unsuspecting prostitute. His plan is thwarted by the alluring and mysterious call girl who arrives at his room, leading to a pulsating game of cat-and-mouse.
Also in the film are Laia Costa, Maria Dizzia, Wendell Pierce, and Marin Ireland.
I haven't gotten a chance to see THE EYES OF MY MOTHER yet myself, but I intend to check it out soon, and its Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD release will give me a chance to do so on March 7th. While I wait to see how well that film will work for me, PIERCING also sounds like a promising project that's worth looking forward to.
