Back in September, director David Gordon Green said that production would begin on his addition to the HALLOWEEN franchise in "six weeks", which would have meant the movie would start filming at the perfect time – right around the Halloween holiday. Although we haven't heard much about the project aside from the fact that Jamie Lee Curtis will be returning to the role of Laurie Strode and will be joined by Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen, many fans assumed that the new HALLOWEEN was staying on track for its scheduled start. No reports came from the set, but maybe it was just a very secretive production, like Adam Green's VICTOR CROWLEY.
Now we have confirmation, via a casting call for extras, that the new HALLOWEEN has not started filming yet, as the start of production was pushed back to mid-January.
Scripted by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, this new HALLOWEEN is said to ignore every other HALLOWEEN movie except for the first one, slightly altering the ending of John Carpenter's 1978 classic in the process. Carpenter is executive producing the film and is planning to provide the score.
The synopsis:
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Filming will be taking place in Charleston, South Carolina, and Tona B. Dahlquist Casting is looking for extras of all races and types, from children through seniors. Casting agents are also seeking "real police officers, EMTs, nurses, CSI investigators, photographers, and a coroner."
Despite the three month delay in filming, it’s still possible that HALLOWEEN could make its scheduled October 19, 2018 release date.
