After a month and a half of filming in Wilmington, North Carolina, production has wrapped on director David Gordon Green's HALLOWEEN KILLS, the first of two back-to-back sequels to last year's HALLOWEEN.
Franchise heroine Jamie Lee Curtis reprises the role of Laurie Strode once again in HALLOWEEN KILLS, and Curtis has said that the new film will
really unpack the first movie, bringing back all those characters whose lives were affected by what happened in 1978."
A whole bunch of people who have crossed paths with Michael Myers before are going to get caught up in his shenanigans again in this sequel. Curtis is joined in the cast by Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen, Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle, Nancy Stephens as Nurse Marion, Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam, Charles Cyphers as Leigh Brackett, Dylan Arnold as Allyson's boyfriend / Lonnie's son Cameron, Jibrail Nantambu as HALLOWEEN 2018 scene stealer Julian, and child actress Victoria Paige Watkins as a character named Christy. Original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle is also in the cast, possibly making another masked cameo like he did in HALLOWEEN 2018, and Myers is primarily being played by James Jude Courtney again.
HALLOWEEN 2018 and HALLOWEEN KILLS are follow-ups to the original 1978 HALLOWEEN only, they do not acknowledge the events of the other sequels.
HALLOWEEN KILLS was written by Green, Danny McBride, and Scott Teems. The release of the film is still eleven months away, as it will be arriving in theatres in the midst of Halloween season next year: October 16, 2020.
Green has said there will be a "short breather" before filming begins on the next sequel, HALLOWEEN ENDS. Written by Green, McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier, that one is aiming for an October 15, 2021 release. According to Halloween Daily News, ENDS is expected to begin filming "early next year."
Malek Akkad is producing these films with Jason Blum and Bill Block. Green, McBride, and Curtis serve as executive producers alongside John Carpenter and Couper Samuelson. Carpenter will also be composing the score.
