Back in February, we learned of a horror anthology entitled HOLIDAYS, for which XYZ Films and Distant Corners Entertainment had assembled several filmmakers to make
a group of subversive tales fashioned around globally recognized celebrations like Christmas, Easter, Halloween and Mother’s Day.
Some of the directors are now filming their HOLIDAYS segments, and it has been announced which holiday each of them will be tackling. The lineup includes:
St. Patrick's Day, directed by Gary Shore (Dracula Untold); Valentine’s Day, directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch (Starry Eyes); Easter, directed by Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact); Mothers’ Day, directed by Sarah Adina Smith (The Midnight Swim); Fathers’ Day, directed by Anthony Scott Burns (Manifold); Christmas, directed by Scott Stewart (Dark Skies); and Hollow Ian, directed by Kevin Smith (Clerks).
Production has wrapped on Shore's segment, and Kevin Smith was filming his last week. Smith took to his social media accounts to share a couple behind-the-scenes pictures from the shoot, which can be seen above and below, and to give some details on the story he's telling. Although the announced title for his segment is HOLLOW IAN, it may end up being called CAMHAIN, and it stars EPIC MEAL TIME host/TUSK border guard Harley Morenstein as "a douchey, villainous Cam-Girl pimp." The short co-stars Harley Quinn Smith, Olivia Roush, and Ashley Greene (not the TWILIGHT star.)
There has been no release date set for HOLIDAYS yet, but we're likely to learn more about the project as filming continues. It all sounds very cool to me, and the participation of Kevin Smith means that this one's a lock for my collection.
