Filming has already begun on season 2 of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

The first season of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is set to premiere on Netflix tomorrow, but according to star Kiernan Shipka, production on the second season has already begun. That was quick. The actress made the revelation while speaking with Bloody Disgusting recently, saying that they went straight into the second season right after the first and that the show will have quite the different spin the second time around.

It’s been really so exceptionally fun to film, especially given the fact that I feel like we’re already in such a rhythm from coming out of the first season that to jump right into the second one was really, really fun and just a great opportunity to keep the momentum going. We definitely… Sabrina definitely changes and shifts a lot. Her growth is very evident and the second season definitely has a different spin on it than the first season. They’re very different from each other.

As for why the second season will be so different, Kiernan Shipka teased that the first season finale will set up the new direction. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was initially developed at The CW, but later shifted over to Netflix, a move which Shipka told THR was perfect for the series. "We're able to do really weird, wacky things [on Netflix]. We're a super weird show, and we go to dark, gory places. Netflix is the perfect home for us," Shipka said.

Where Sabrina goes, her cat Salem follows, but Kiernan Shipka is unfortunately quite allergic. "I am the "hives all over my face" kind of allergic, which definitely isn't fun for makeup or production as a whole. We shoot around it," Shipka said. "There are some isolated cat shots, and sometimes there's a body double that's holding that cat. It's a fun time!" Yikes. The actress joked that she'd be down if the producers wanted to switch to an animatronic Salem like the Melissa Joan Hart TV series. Speaking of the original series, Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina), Nate Richert (Harvey), Caroline Rhea (Aunt Hilda) and Beth Broderick (Aunt Zelda) banded together to send their best witches to the stars of the rebooted series.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will premiere on Netflix on October 26th. You can check out a review of the series from our own Alex Maidy right here!
