Two years after choosing not to kill the man who killed his son, former police sergeant Barnes (Frank Grillo) has become head of security for Senator Charlene Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), the front runner in the next Presidential election due to her vow to eliminate the Purge. As you can imagine, that doesn't sit well with those in power and a hit is put out on the Senator during the one night it's legal. Check out their struggle for survival in the latest trailer for THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR!
THE PURGE: ANARCHY was actually a pretty fun sequel, so I'm happy to see that writer/director James DeMonaco is continuing to tell stories within the PURGE universe. With that said, I'm hoping ELECTION YEAR doesn't just retread the events of the previous film, and whips up some inventive predicaments for our heroes to fight their way out of. I'd recommend that Grillo build himself some kick-ass battle armor, but that didn't exactly work out for him in CIVIL WAR.
THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR hits theaters on July 1, 2016.
