Feige says any Infinity Saga box set should feature “really bad” cut scenes

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was on the promotional train once again with AVENGERS: ENDGAME approaching its release on DVD and Blu-ray, and since the Infinity Saga has officially ended, he’s been getting a bit more candid about the epic series. While he’s been revealing which scenes make him cry, or what gruesome plans they had for Thanos (Josh Brolin), he also opened up about some scenes that didn't make the movie, and hinted that should a 23-film, Infinity Saga box set come to light we could see all those not-so-hot scenes be featured among the swath of content.

This came as part of Feige’s recent interview with Empire, and it was there he joked around that if anyone is passionate enough to invest in such a huge (and expensive) collection, then they will probably still have that love after seeing scenes that understandably had to hit the cutting room floor.

“If we do a big, giant Infinity Saga box set, we might include- I’m assuming if you're going to spend the money to buy a box set with everything in it, you're a fan. And it'll take more than a couple of really, really bad scenes to turn you," he laughs.

That’s hardly a confirmation that there is indeed a big box set on the way, but it does hint at where the mindset may be in terms of featuring unseen deleted scenes. The upcoming Blu-ray release will have a few deleted scenes for fans, and one that will be making it on the special features did make it online early, and that’s the one where the members of the Avengers take a knee for a fallen comrade…who they later stand in silence for in the next scene.

“I like sharing those scenes. And when we have something like that that we love, and which was not an easy decision to cut out but was the best decision for the movie, it's a great avenue to say, ‘We'll put it out there.' It's not like no-one will ever see it. There are things that we think nobody should ever see. And I think we've just recently been discussing that now we can start to show some of our less proud moments.”

Some of those moments may not be top Marvel content, but they would certainly make certain movies fans giggle in their seats after seeing certain Easter eggs.

“There's stuff that still pops up from the Star Wars trilogy occasionally – Tosche Station for instance. That is not great, it certainly shouldn't be in the movie, but I love seeing it. I love that they shot it and it exists and we get to see it. So usually we love putting that stuff out there. There's some things that we've been too humiliated to show, but I think we'll bring out soon enough."

At the end of the day, it does seem like Feige and Marvel have the intention to perhaps maybe potentially release some of the deleted scenes that would make audiences go, "Yeah, good thing they chopped that." The "kneeling" scene is a good example of this, which may not be necessarily bad, but it certainly doesn't have a place in the overall movie…one that at three hours makes Tarantino seem conservative. Yes, they do this already with some of the deleted scenes on the Blu-ray, but there's probably a lot more we aren't seeing, and a big box set would be the perfect place to unveil them to the world.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME is on DVD and Blu-ray August 13.
