Back in 2013, we were hit with a remake of Sam Raimi's zero-budget splatter classic THE EVIL DEAD. The remake came to us via an untested director by the name of Fede Alvarez and every horror fan on Earth held their breath for what was sure to be yet another yawn-inducing horror movie redux.
But then EVIL DEAD (2013) was good. Actually, it was a killer 90 mins filled with enough blood, gore, and fanboy references to make as all cheer in the blood rain. Plus, Jane Levy was a great female follow up to Bruce Campbell's Ash.
And if you feel the same way as I do about the remake, then you'll be excited to hear that Alvarez MIGHT be thinking of making a sequel to his original remake (these sentences are getting harder to type every day).
Yes, Alvarez recently took to Twitter to put out the question: "What should I do next?" Before listing possible potential projects as EVIL DEAD 2 and DON'T BREATHE 2. He also added a choice of "Stop Making Movies" but thankfully only a small percentage of cinema intellectuals (re: jerks) picked that answer.
The results landed as such: EVIL DEAD 2 scored 70% of the vote and DON'T BREATHE 2 snagged 20% of the votes… and “Stop Making Movies” garnered a mere 10% for the sake of argument.
Alvarez is currently shooting the sequel to David Fincher's THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO called THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB so it may be quite a while before he taps his next motion picture, but when he does, he just might move onto EVIL DEAD 2. Cool, huh?!
Check out his tweet below and then cast your vote straight to Alvarez!
