Featurette: Nicotero, Barbeau, Bell, Arquette, Combs, & more talk Creepshow

A few days ago, we shared a behind-the-scenes featurette on the new Shudder anthology series Creepshow in which some of the directors and writers of the stories that make up the show's first season discussed diving into the world that horror masters George A. Romero and Stephen King created with the films CREEPSHOW and CREEPSHOW 2.

The episodes of Creepshow's first season will be released through Shudder on a weekly basis, new episodes showing up on the streaming service every Thursday. The first episode made its debut yesterday, so if you have Shudder you should definitely be checking that out as soon as possible. The season will consist of six episodes (each episode containing two stories), so the season finale will be available on Halloween.

If you're not sold on watching Creepshow yet, we have another featurette that might convince you to watch it. In this featurette, which is embedded below, the focus is the actors. Over the course of 7 minutes, the show's creative supervisor Greg Nicotero and episode stars Adrienne Barbeau, Tobin Bell, Giancarlo Esposito, David Arquette, Tricia Helfer, Dana Gould, Jeffrey Combs, and DJ Qualls talk about what it was like to work on Creepshow. As with the directors/writers featurette, the talking head interviews in this one are intercut with footage from future episodes, so this serves as a nice preview of the show.

The acting featurette is followed by a short clip of Nicotero talking about this endeavor to resurrect Creepshow, a franchise he has history with.

The first episode of Creepshow tells these two stories: 

“Gray Matter”

Doc and Chief, two old-timers in a small, dying town, brave a storm to check on Richie, an alcoholic single father, after encountering his terrified son at the local convenience store. The story, first published in 1973, is part of King’s best-selling 1978 collection, Night Shift. 

“The House of the Head”

Evie discovers her new dollhouse might be haunted.

“The Companion”

“The Man in the Suitcase”

“The Finger”

An unhappy man discovers a severed, inhuman appendage on the street and brings it home, where it grows into a loyal companion with some deadly quirks.
