Featurette introduces the cast and characters of the new Child’s Play

A couple weeks ago, we saw a behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming CHILD'S PLAY remake that focused on Chucky the killer doll. Now a featurette has been released that's all about the people Chucky will be tormenting in the new film… and each of the characters introduced in this featurette are updated version of characters we first met in the original CHILD'S PLAY.

In the video embedded below, Aubrey Plaza talks about playing single mother Karen; Brian Tyree Henry comments on his "loyal and trustworthy" character detective Mike; and Gabriel Bateman discusses his version of Andy, who is older in this film than he was in the original, more mature than his age, and insecure about his hearing aid.

These characters cross paths with Chucky in a film that has the same basic story as the CHILD'S PLAY we're familiar with:

A mother (Plaza) gives her son (Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

Mark Hamill provides the voice of Chucky this time around. He isn't interviewed in the featurette, but you do get to hear a sample of his vocal performance.

Instead of being possessed by the soul of a serial killer, the new Chucky is "an obsolete model of the bestselling Buddi doll with a glitch in his chip and the ability to control a vast network of interconnected devices."

Directed by Lars Klevberg from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith, the new CHILD'S PLAY was produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith through their company KatzSmith Productions.

The film is being released by MGM subsidiary Orion Pictures through their United Artists Releasing banner on June 21st.
