While I've loved everything I've seen from Bryan Fuller's TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman's AMERICAN GODS, the one thing that disappointed me was the depiction of Technical Boy, the God of Technology. In Gaiman's book, he was a fat, pimply nerd in a black leather trenchcoat; however, for the show, he's a skinny, douchey, vape-smoking nerd-bro. The change, of course, makes sense (Gaiman was representing what trolls looked like in the late 90s/early 2000s, while the new Technical Boy is taking cues from popular YouTube personalities and millennial fashions). I guess I'm just disappointed, because I related to the original Technical Boy as a fat, pimply loser who wore black trenchcoats myself. C'est la vie.
Anyway, here's a promo showing off footage of Technical Boy. Enjoy:
Huh, I don't remember him materializing like that in the book (though to be fair, it has been awhile since I've read the novel). It's a cool effect, regardless. You know, I think I'm officially over being annoyed by the changes. Although, I'm sure I'll find something to obsess and being annoyed about when it premieres on STARZ April 30th, 2017.
