We got a glimpse of him last year, but AMC has released the first full look at Ian Colletti as Eugene "Arseface" Root from its Preacher series, and hopefully this means that a new trailer is on the horizon. Root's mangled up face is a result of a failed suicide attempt, and although he doesn't look as gruesome as he does in the comics, I'm pretty happy with how he will appear in the upcoming television series.
Well, there goes my appetite:
The small screen adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's critically-acclaimed comic book series comes from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and Rogen explained how they made Arseface's face look so arse-y during a Q&A at SXSW following the premiere of the pilot episode.
We could never afford that in CGI – it’s a prosthetic rig. That poor little f—er has to wear that s–t on his face. He has a positive attitude about it, but I know it f—ing sucks. He can emote a lot even with the thing on his face.
Preacher will debut on AMC on May 22, 2016.
