Confession: I’ve still not watched Fear the Walking Dead. Once it started and the word of mouth poured in, I thought better of keeping tabs on it. Too many people called it boring and unengaging. Now, I can make up up my own mind, of course, but there’s just too much to be watched nowadays to risk spending six hours on a show I’m probably not going to like. Should I give it another chance? Our own critic was mixed on it, but appeared to generally dig it.
AMC hopes so, and yesterday they began campaigning (overseas) for the new season, which comes out in April. The first teaser you’ll see ties into that Flight 462 online series they were promoting last year; I didn’t watch that either, but I gather it leads into Season 2 of FTWD.
Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark and English teacher Travis Manawa have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.
In other Fear the Walking Dead news, the show just brought in this recognizable actor.
Fear the Walking Dead Season 2 will air its second season of 15 episodes in two parts, beginning with the first of seven episodes on April 10th.
