In its second season, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD's ratings dropped almost fifty-percent, averaging a 4.19 million viewers. That's down 45% in viewers from season one. However, those numbers were enough for FEAR THE WALKING DEAD to remain AMC’s second-highest rated original series, trailing behind only THE WALKING DEAD.
And thus, AMC has renewed FEAR THE WALKING DEAD for a fourth season, even though Season 3 hasn’t even aired yet.
Original showrunner Dave Erickson stepped down from the position back in March, and the co-creator of DEAD OF SUMMER, Ian Goldberg, along with Andrew Chambliss (Once Upon a Time) will take over as showrunners.
Chambliss and Goldberg on joining FEAR THE WALKING DEAD:
We are thrilled to be joining ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ and couldn’t be more excited to work alongside the wonderful team at AMC on this show. We love this universe and are truly honored to have the chance to contribute to it.”
THE WALKING DEAD executive producer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple will also become an executive producer on the spin-off come season four.
FEAR THE WALKING DEAD comes from executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert, David Erickson and Scott M. Gimple. Season 3 begins in June.
