Fear the Walking Dead‘s original showrunner Dave Erickson had a lot of ideas for the future of the character Madison Clark, played by Kim Dickens… but when Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg took over as showrunners as of season 4, they steered the show in a very different direction. A direction that included – from the looks of it – killing off Madison in the middle of season 4. Dickens has said she was heartbroken and devastated when she heard Madison was being written off the show, and a lot of fans have been demanding that she be brought back. Three years later, she is coming back.
ComicBook.com reports that AMC and Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer of AMC’s The Walking Dead Universe, have officially confirmed that Kim Dickens will be returning as Madison Clark in the second half of Fear the Walking Dead season 7, which will begin airing on April 17, 2022. If that’s not enough, AMC has ordered an eighth season of the show – and in that season, Dickens’ Madison will once again have “series regular” status.
Fear the Walking Dead will also be filming in a new location when season 8 goes into production. After four seasons of filming in the Austin, Texas area, the show is moving to Savannah, Georgia.
The second half of season 7 has the following synopsis:
In the second half of Season 7, months have passed after the nuclear blast and the only one thriving is Victor Strand. Having built a fiefdom, he callously selects who will have a chance at life. The other members of the group have suffered immensely, but out of that, has come a fierce determination to live — even if it means taking Strand’s Tower by force and continuing the search for Padre, a mythical place no one is sure really exists. Alicia, now the reluctant leader to Teddy’s former followers, is plagued by a mysterious illness and the repercussions of her past actions. Morgan, trying to maintain hope that he will be reunited with his family, knows Alicia is key to their survival. With Alicia declaring war, Strand’s paranoia and personal vendettas grow, and with that, new threats emerge from all sides.
Dickens is joining a cast that includes Lennie James, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo, Danny Garcia, Austin Amelio, Mo Collins, Alexa Nisenson, Karen David, Christine Evangelista, Colby Hollman, Jenna Elfman, Keith Carradine, and Ruben Blades.
