Sisters Ziggy and Cindy Berman, played by Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Emily Rudd (Dynasty), are at the center of the story in director Leigh Janiak's Fear Street Part 2: 1978, which will be available to watch on the Netflix streaming service this Friday, July 9th. In the video embedded above, you can get a 43 second preview of one interaction between Ziggy and Cindy, during which they discuss the possibility that their hometown of Shadyside has been cursed by a witch.
Fear Street Part 2: 1978 is the middle entry in the Fear Street trilogy event Netflix is hosting this month. Fear Street Part 1: 1994 was released on the streamer last Friday and Fear Street Part 3: 1666 will wrap things up on July 16th.
Janiak shot all three Fear Street movies back-to-back-to-back. She also co-wrote all three films, crafting the story for part 1 with Kyle Killen and Phil Graziadei and part 2 with Graziadei and Zak Olkewicz. Janiak then wrote part 1 with Graziadei, part 2 with Olkewicz, and part 3 with Graziadei and Kate Trefry. Here's the synopsis:
In 1994, a group of teenagers discovers that the terrifying events that have haunted their town for generations may all be connected — and that they may be the next targets. Based on R.L. Stine’s best selling horror series, the trilogy follows the nightmare through Shadyside’s sinister history.
The trilogy was produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready. Kori Adelson produced 1666 and executive produced the other two. Janiak executive produced the trilogy with Timothy M. Bourne, Yvonne M. Bernard, Joan Waricha, and Jane Stine.
1978 stars Sink, Rudd, Ryan Simpkins, McCabe Slye, Ted Sutherland, Jordana Spiro, Gillian Jacobs, Kiana Madeira, Benjamin Flores Jr., Ashley Zukerman, Olivia Scott Welch, Chiara Aurelia, and Jordyn DiNatale.
We will have a review of Fear Street Part 2: 1978 here on Arrow in the Head very soon, so keep an eye out for that!
