Netflix Fatherhood interviews: Kevin Hart, Anthony Carrigan, Lil Rel Howery

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

In the new film Fatherhood by director Paul Weitz, Kevin Hart portrays a man bringing up his daughter alone. It's a moving, funny, and charming feature, one that offers a terrific performance from Mr. Hart – even if his amazing co-star Melody Hurd tends to steal the show. The film also features a strong supporting cast with Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Paul Reiser, Alfre Woodard, and Anthony Carrigan. While it is certainly funny, there's much here that will bring a tear to your eye, and those moments are what bring this lovely film to life. With Father's Day coming up, and the easy accessibility of Netflix, this is one movie that is likely to connect to a massive audience thanks to its strong script and inspiring message. It's also one of Mr. Hart's best performances to date, along with his amazing co-star.

While we already presented to you our interview with Kevin Hart and Melody Hurd, we're thrilled to bring you more. For the film's press day, we also spoke to the incredibly charismatic Lil Rel Howery and DeWanda Wise. For Howery – who continues to add strong support and charm – he opened up about playing the best pal and finding that right connection. And for the lovely Ms. Wise, she had terrific things to say about working alongside both Hart and Hurd.

Next up, we spoke to both the filmmaker himself, Paul Weitz, and the incredibly endearing Anthony Carrigan. First up, Mr. Weitz opened up about giving Kevin Hart something more than just an over-the-top comedy to work with. I've been a fan of the director ever since American Pie, and his gift of balancing heart and humor brings real warmth to his latest. And then there is Mr. Carrigan who creates one of my favorite characters in the film. The actor is incredibly appealing, and really very charming in person. He opened up about his approach to this film, and he was simply a joy to talk with.

Fatherhood is delightful – just have a box of tissue available – and it premieres this Friday on Netflix… Just in time for Father's Day. So happy Father's Day to all you dads out there!
