Fatal Attraction TV series in the works for Paramount Plus streamer

Back in 2015, Paramount Television and Fox teamed up for an event series that would have been based on the 1987 thriller Fatal Attraction (watch it HERE). Unfortunately, Fox wasn't happy with the script that was turned in by Maria and Andre Jacquemetton, so the project was scrapped at the start of 2017. Now Paramount is trying again. The studio announced that a Fatal Attraction series is being developed for the Paramount Plus streaming service.

The Fatal Attraction show has been given a "script to series" order, meaning it will bypass the pilot stage and go straight to series if the script is up to snuff.

Alexandra Cunningham and Kevin J. Hynes of the show Dirty John are working on the script, and this potential series is being described as

a deep-dive reimagining of the classic psychosexual thriller and 80s cultural touchstone Fatal Attraction through the lens of modern attitudes on strong women, personality disorders, victim shaming and coercive control.

Cunningham and Hynes will also be executive producing the show alongside Stanley Jaffe, Sherry Lansing, and Amblin Television's Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.

Directed by Adrian Lyne from a screenplay by James Dearden, the 1987 film had the following synopsis:

For Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas), life is good. He is on the rise at his New York law firm, is happily married to his wife, Beth (Anne Archer), and has a loving daughter. But, after a casual fling with a sultry book editor named Alex (Glenn Close), everything changes. Jilted by Dan, Alex becomes unstable, her behavior escalating from aggressive pursuit to obsessive stalking. Dan realizes that his main problem is not hiding his affair, but rather saving himself and his family.

Fatal Attraction is just one of many Paramount library titles that are being revived for Paramount Plus. Other projects in the works at the streaming service include shows based on Love Story, Flashdance, The Italian Job, and The Parallax View, plus there's a Grease prequel series and a show about the making of The Godfather.

We'll let you know whether or not Paramount Plus decides to move forward with Fatal Attraction after Cunningham and Hynes turn in the script.
