Fast X: Final extended trailer races its way online

The promotional hype machine for Fast X is just about to cross the finish line with the movie premiering in theaters on Friday. The tenth installment to the 2001 “little movie that could” hits the NOS to boost a new final extended trailer just ahead of the release. With the movie being touted as “beginning of the end” as this is supposed to be the first of an either two-part (or three part) ending, Universal decided to release an unprecedented four-and-a-half-minute trailer with tons of new footage.

The official synopsis from Universal reads,
Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything—and everyone—that Dom loves, forever.  

In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price. 

Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance. 

We get more of a look at Reacher‘s Alan Ritchson as he and Brie Larson give the audience a rundown of the franchise’s history and give the fans a chance to reflect on the fun insanity of the legacy that the sequels have created. The film brings back nearly all the characters, with a notably missing Hobbs, and introduces more branches of the family, with Rita Moreno turning up as the matriarch of the Toretto clan.

The whole thing has somewhat of an Infinity War vibe, with the cast split up on their separate adventures, and especially since the plan was to conclude the story with a second part to this movie which Vin announced to be Fast X- Part 2. However, the studio now wants this movie to serve as the first in a concluding trilogy. Like a lot of the cars in this franchise, it looks like the brakes are out.
