Over the course of the past twenty years, the Fast & Furious franchise has expanded beyond anyone's wildest expectations, and with just two more films to go before the Fast Saga wraps up, it's hard to say just how big it will get before the end. One way the franchise might get bigger is by adding EGOT-winner Rita Moreno to the cast. Pardon?

With the recently released F9 diving more into the Toretto family history by introducing Dom's (Vin Diesel) long-long brother, Jakob (John Cena), the final two installments might just introduce a few more members of the Toretto family. While speaking with Variety, Vin Diesel said that director Justin Lin and himself have been talking a lot about introducing Dom's mother, but before they get to that point, they want to bring Dom's grandmother on board and are already eying Rita Moreno to play her.

We’ve been talking a lot about Mrs. Toretto, from the very beginning of [me] coming back for ‘F9’. So, I feel like there’s gonna be a time and place to be able to reveal that. [But] before we get to Mother Toretto, we will get to Abuela. And the person that I’m so excited to talk about that role is Rita Moreno.

Variety reached out to Rita Moreno about possibly joining the Fast & Furious franchise, and she definitely seems open to the idea. "I’m waiting for his call," Moreno said. "I think it’s a fabulous idea. I hope he puts me in black leather…" Rita Moreno isn't the only award-winning actress that Diesel is hoping to add to the franchise, as he's previously spoken about plans for Michael Caine to join the fun. F9 is now playing in theaters, so check out reviews from our own JimmyO and Chris Bumbray, and let us know what you thought as well. As for Rita Moreno, she will next be seen in Steven Spielberg's adaptation of West Side Story, which will hit theaters on December 10, 2021.
