Fast and Furious 6 and 7 may shoot back to back, Jason Statham joining the cast?

If ever there was a tailor-made actor for THE FAST AND FURIOUS franchise, it’s bald-headed slab o’ beef Jason Statham (THE EXPENDABLES 2, KILLER ELITE).

According to Twitch, sources close to the site are saying that Universal is considering shooting FAST 6 and FAST 7 back to back in Europe throughout much of next year. What’s more, the studio has entered into preliminary talks with Statham to explore the possibility of the action star joining one or both films.

Justin Lin will of course be at the helm of the vehicular shenanigans once (or twice) again. As Twitch points out, Lin recently dropped out of directing TERMINATOR 5 due to “scheduling conflicts”. The potential back-to-back shooting of FAST 6 and 7 may have something to do with that.
