Fast and Furious 10 & 11 will shoot back-to-back, says Tyrese Gibson

After the release of F9 later this month, the stage will be set for the Fast & Furious franchise to come to an end with two final films. While it remains to be seen how the long-running franchise will wrap up, it seems that the production will be truly massive. While speaking with Collider, Tyrese Gibson said that Fast & Furious 10 and Fast & Furious 11 would be shooting back-to-back.

I have definitely asked some questions about 10 and 11. It has been confirmed we are going to shoot back-to-back and get both in the can. Which is interesting. I’m hearing that we’re going to touch a lot of continents between the two. I cannot say where, but a lot. The higher-ups that are involved in this franchise are specifically aware of the die-hard fans and supporters around the world. We all carry a particular torch of responsibility and knowing there is a beast, and we need to feed that beast and give them what they want, what they love, and what they’re used to.

Given everything the Fast & Furious family have already done in the previous installments, I certainly don't envy how they plan on topping it with these final two sequels. F9 director Justin Lin will return to helm the last two films, and he told THR in April that he's been looking at F9 at the first part of a trilogy. "I was thinking of it as one chapter. It became very clear to me that if we were going to do that, we were going to need some real estate," Lin said. "To the studio’s credit, it was like, ‘Yeah, let’s do it.’ That’s what we’ve been doing since I’ve been back, … processing it as almost like a trilogy as a final chapter." The official synopsis for F9:

Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena).

F9 will hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
