Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, and Ralph Feinnes are rounding out the cast of writer/director Martin McDonagh’s feature debut IN BRUGES. This little ditty, which sounds vaguely reminiscent of GROSSE POINT BLANK and maybe a bit of THE MATADOR but different and interesting enough in it’s own right, goes a little something like this: IN BRUGES is the darkly comedic tale of the fates of hit men Ray and Ken (to be played by Mr. Farrell and Mr. Gleeson, respectively). After a difficult job in London, the team is ordered by their boss Harry (Mr. Fiennes) to cool their heels in Bruges. Very much out of their comfort zones, the men find themselves drawn into increasingly dangerous entanglements with locals, tourists, and a film shoot. Soon, their perspectives on life and death are violently skewed. Rising European stars Jérémie Renier (recently seen in the Belgian import L’ENFANT) and Clémence Poésy are co-starring and shooting begins on location in Belgium in February. Although this is McDonagh’s first feature film, he won an Oscar for his live-action short SIX SHOOTER and as a playwright he was nominated for several Tony Awards.
