Fargo will continue its run at FX, and it has been announced that the award-winning series from creator Noah Hawley has been renewed for a season five.
Fargo’s return is no surprise as Noah Hawley began talking about season five as soon as season four, which starred Chris Rock, was coming to an end. Per Deadline, season five will be set in 2019 and the media release from FX teases, “when is a kidnapping not a kidnapping, and what if your wife isn’t yours?” Here is what Hawley had to say about season five:
“I don’t think anyone will write about Minnesota in the same way again after the events of the last couple of years. It’s definitely not going back to ‘Oh look at these jolly, carefree white folk in their small towns.’”
In addition, FX Entertainment President Eric Schrier said in a statement, “Noah and Warren have delighted and inspired fans through four brilliant chapters of Fargo and we’re thrilled to announce with our partners at MGM a new chapter of what has become one of TV’s best and most acclaimed series.”
Fargo is a critically acclaimed anthology series that is inspired by the 1996 film of the same name, which was written and directed by the Coen Brothers, and takes place within the same universe. Each season is set in a different era and location, with a different story and mostly new characters and cast, although there has been some minor overlap. Fargo has won 51 of its 226 award nominations across its acclaimed seasons.
