Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island unrated Blu-ray coming in May

Blumhouse and director Jeff Wadlow's (KICK-ASS 2, TRUTH OR DARE) horror twist on that old TV series FANTASY ISLAND starring Lucy Hale (SCREAM 4, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS) and Michael Pena (CHIPS, CRASH) opened earlier this year to less than ecstatic praise. To be nice.

But it's all good as today we hear that FANTASY ISLAND will hit Digital next month and Blu-ray DVD in May UNRATED with six deleted scenes and commentary. Maybe this UNRATED CUT will be better? We'll see…You can check out the killer cover art and a full list of special features below.

The MPAA has slapped the movie with – you guessed it – a PG-13 rating for "violence, terror, drug content, suggestive material, and brief strong language." Described as a mix of WESTWORLD and THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, it tells the tale of 

the enigmatic Mr. Roarke, who makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.

Directed by Jeff Wadlow (KICK-ASS 2 and TRUTH OR DARE) from a script he wrote with Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs FANTASY ISLAND is produced by Jason Blum and Marc Toberoff and stars Lucy Hale (SCREAM 4 and PRETTY LITTLE LIARS), Maggie Q, Michael Rooker, Ryan Hansen, Jimmy O. Yang, Charlotte McKinney, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Portia Doubleday, Austin Stowell, and Michael Pena (CHIPS and CRASH) as Mr. Roarke.
