Warner Bros. has officially set a Fantastic Beasts 3 release date, and it will be in the first few months of 2022.
The studio announced that Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be released globally on April 15, 2022. David Yates directors the third installment, which follows Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The Crimes of Grindelwald. Check out the official title reveal below!
Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling and longtime series screenwriter Steve Kloves penned the script, based upon a screenplay by Rowling. This will be the third film in a planned series of five Harry Potter prequels. The third installment stars Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, and Mads Mikkelsen as the central villain, Gellert Grindelwald. Johnny Depp previously played the role but he was replaced by Mikkelsen following Depp’s very public issues with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
The Fantastic Beasts 3 release has jumped around a bit, with filming beginning in early 2020 but having to halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film follows the events of the second film, which was met with lukewarm reception and ending its box office run as the lowest-grossing entry in the series with $654 million worldwide.
