In just a little over a week, it will be time to return to the Wizarding World once again with FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD, and, judging by the reactions at a recent fan-screening of the sequel, we should be in for quite the treat. In addition to catching up with with Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol), Jacob (Dan Fogler), Credence (Ezra Miller), and Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), the sequel will be bringing along a fresh batch of characters, but one of them is someone who we became very familiar with in the HARRY POTTER series, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law). CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD will present us with a much younger version of Dumbledore, and Warner Bros. have released a featurette which dives into how his character connects to this new world.
The official synopsis for FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD:
At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD will hit theaters on November 16, 2018.
