Marvel Fans think the Morbius delay is to add Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man into the film

Morbius was delayed for the SEVENTH time this week (officially more times than The New Mutants, take that as you will) and many fans are speculating as to why. The narrative put out to the media was that this was due to the Omicron variant surge but given the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, despite the pandemic, fans find that reasoning hard to believe. Another popular theory emerging is that the delay could be due to reshoots/added scenes and fans are starting to believe the delay COULD be to add Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man into Morbius.

Andrew Garfield has seen a ton of fan support following his return as his version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The multiverse storyline allowed his return to happen along with the return of Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man which resulted in the duo joining Tom Holland’s latest iteration of the character for one epic piece of fan service at its finest.

The return of Andrew Garfield, in particular, has made fans declare that he deserves to finish his trilogy and they are calling for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to be made. Some fans even think that this is already in works in some fashion at Sony and they believe that his return could be attached to Morbius, a film whose trailers clearly indicate that it exists in Garfield’s Spider-Man universe. This is all merely speculation at this point and nothing is confirmed but it does make for an interesting case because I myself am not sold that Omicron was 100% the reason for the film’s latest delay. It seems silly not to release Morbius on the back of Spider-Man: No Way Home and not build on that momentum unless you’re reworking things for a potential major surprise. What do YOU all think?
