Now that STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER has finally released in theaters, the Skywalker Saga is at an end. However, despite it being the end of the road for Luke, Leia, and Ben, the Star Wars franchise is very much alive and well. Disney+'s The Mandalorian is a bona fide hit, the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars drops next month, and we've got an Obi-Wan series and a Cassian Andor series on the horizon. THE LAST JEDI director Rian Johnson also has a new STAR WARS trilogy in development.
Although STAR WARS on screen will vacate the premises in a matter of months, we won't have to wait too much longer for a new trilogy to hit the multiplex. December 16, 2022 will mark the first film in a trilogy outside the confines of the Skywalker bloodline. Now what exactly the trilogy will be about is up for debate. The safe bet is that the trilogy will be set during the time of the Old Republic. Indeed JoBlo reported back in May that Laeta Kalogridis had been hired to pen a script based off of the Knights of the Old Republic video game.
The key character in KOTOR is a person by the name of Darth Revan. A former Jedi, Revan makes the circuitous route of going from Jedi to Sith and back to Jedi. KOTOR is considered by many to be one of the best STAR WARS stories in any platform. But there's always room for improvement and what could make KOTOR better than Keanu Reeves?
YouTuber stryder HD seems to concur and chose to make a fan trailer imagining what exactly Reeves might look like as Revan. The results are sufficiently awesome:
Obviously the trailer draws from a variety of sources such as the KOTOR game itself, Reeves' 47 RONIN, and even fanmade lightsaber films. I have to admit though the quality is pretty strong and Reeves wielding a lightsaber while fending off the flames of a dragon is pretty bad ass.
To be perfectly honest, I don't see how you don't cast Keanu Reeves as a Jedi at some point. It doesn't necessarily have to be Revan but the dude is tailor made for a Jedi Master role. He's already extremely Zen personality wise and you just know he would fully dedicate himself to the physical aspects. Can you imagine seeing Keanu Reeves wrecking dark side users with a lightsaber and wielding the Force on the big screen? The concept of a story arc where Reeves' character falls to the dark side, becomes a Sith, and then becomes a Jedi again is particularly intriguing.
Even if Reeves did join the upcoming STAR WARS trilogy in some capacity it would be difficult from a scheduling perspective. Keanu Reeves just began training for both JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4 and THE MATRIX 4 both set to film this year. He's also got BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC due out later in 2020 as well as THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE ON THE RUN. The man has a full dance card. But if anyone could pull off appearing in a STAR WARS film it's Neo.
