Fan-made Sonic the Hedgehog trailer gives the Blue Bomber a cartoon makeover

While Sonic fans are waiting for the iconic Sega spokescharacter to get a redesign for his recently-delayed upcoming film, one YouTube user by the name of Artur Baranov has beat the studio to the punch by inserting a more familiar-looking version of the Blue Bomber into a re-cut take on the original trailer.

As you can see from the video posted below, Baranov's version closely resembles the characters look from his Dreamcast-era, 3D model debut, complete with the character's signature white gloves, apricot-colored muzzle, and singular brow. While the dialogue sync on the trailer could use a little work, Baranov's design goes above and beyond capturing the attitude, flavor, and speed of Dr. Robotnik's arch-nemesis. Baranov's cut also removes a few of the original trailer's more lackluster moments, such as Jim Carrey's all-too-long introduction as Dr. Eggman, an Egyptian desert chase scene, and that insufferable "someone else's kid in a bag" routine.

Here's hoping that the SONIC THE HEDGEHOG design team can bring some worthwhile changes to the character before the film's new February 14, 2020 release date, even if their efforts will be all for naught, once the internet sinks their fangs into the group's troubles. For what it's worth, I'm just glad that Team Sonic got the film's release date pushed back, as they would have been working under terrible crunch conditions had the studio not made the switch. I wish them all the best of luck, as I don't think Sonic fans will ever be truly contended by what they come up with.
